The History of Testosterone Research and Testosterone Treatment

The Modern History of Andropause and Low-T Research

After the creation of man-made testosterone, our knowledge increased and research into sex and growth hormones boomed. Nowadays testosterone products are a vast global industry. For example a popular product is Centrapeak. Look at the other examples here on Top 10 Supplement Reviews.

In the last 20 years, the study of testosterone and its effects has grown massively, with a defined link between testosterone and aging. During the last half a century, scientists have concluded that men experience their own form of age-related hormone decline – now known as the andropause (or “male menopause”). In short, the andropause is the time when a man’s testosterone drops, to a point where it has an impact on that individual. As discussed above, testosterone treatments can help restore a man’s well-being.

Menopause Vs. Andropause

Though the menopause (where a woman’s menstruation cycle stops) and andropause are similar, the differences include:

  • Menopause is relatively sudden.
  • Andropause is more gradual (even a fairly general time when it occurs cannot be estimated).
  • Andropause greatly impacts a man’s health and masculinity.

Exercises That Boost Testosterone

There are numerous ways you can increase natural testosterone production to boost your testosterone levels until you can be approved for Testosterone Restoration. The following examples will be useful:

  • First, practice squatting without weights. When you are confident, start adding weights and continue the same body motion. Dip your body deeply and use your thighs and glutes to stand. Don’t over-exert yourself and always warm up (and warm down) properly.
  • Use resistance cables or bands. Hold them in your hands, and pull them upward in order to simulate added weight. Testosterone stimulation through exercise is correlated with the number and size of the muscle groups you work out, so by pulling upwards you work out both your shoulders and legs. Always keep your feet symmetrical and steady on the ground.
  • Cardiovascular exercise, especially “high intensity interval training”. This means a normal cardio workout, but with an increase in intensity for about 20 seconds. This adds a powerful anaerobic element to your cardio which stimulates the production of testosterone. This can be done on a bike or through running.
  • Dead lifts. These stimulate large muscle groups and greatly boost testosterone production. Dead lifts are an exercise where you have a loaded barbell on the ground, and you lift up with your knees and your arms to bring yourself to a standing position. They are commonly associated with weightlifting. Always perform dead lifts safely (wear sturdy trainers, use a mat, keep your feet at an optimal distance apart etc).
  • Running sprints.
  • Polymetric exercises (jumping and leaping).

Remember: These are only suggestions. Before beginning any workout routine, always seek advice from a physical training professional. These exercises should be used in conjunction with a good diet and a healthy sleeping pattern.

Six Invisible Exercise Benefits

  1. Exercise improves resistance to pain.
  2. Exercise enhances the brain.
  3. Exercise invigorates the release of pheromones and enhances sexual performance.
  4. Exercise reduces cravings for unhealthy foods.
  5. Exercise improves the body’s structural strength.
  6. Exercise improves bowel movements.

HCG Testosterone Therapy Supplementation

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) is a hormone that is secreted during pregnancy by women. It is produced by the placenta. HCG is very biologically similar to Luteinizing Hormone (LH), which is released by the pituitary gland. It is only produced by females, but can produce significant benefits in the male body. This means that it can effectively promote increased testosterone production by the testes.

When used in combination with testosterone therapy, the combination can simultaneously increase testosterone levels and help prevent the suppression of biological testosterone production by the testes associated with testosterone treatments alone.

Why Do People Take HCG with Testosterone?

When using prescription testosterone treatments (including testosterone gels and injections), your body experiences a surge of testosterone which restores youthful hormone balance. The problem is that this new hormone homeostasis caused by Recombinant Testosterone Therapy takes the pressure off of your testes to produce testosterone naturally. This in turn causes your body to lose its ability to produce testosterone through the course of therapy which, if you don’t take efforts with HCG, you will need more and more testosterone until your testes no longer produce much endogenous testosterone at all.

The body responds to this influx of testosterone by slowing down the secretion of LH from the pituitary. HCG injections keep the testes functioning at the level they were before treatment, thus making it easier to restore normal testosterone synthesis.

The Effect of Testosterone Replacement on the Testes

When the body stops producing LH, it has an impact on the form and function of your testes.

One of the main side-effects of testosterone replacement without HCG is that the testicles will shrink in size. LH is also responsible for the healthy formation of sperm (testosterone alone cannot create sperm).

This is another side-effect of low-T treatment without HCG: declining fertility. Testosterone boosts sex drive, but testosterone alone has a negative impact on fertility.

By taking testosterone with HCG, you can simultaneously preserve your fertility, preserve the normal form and function of your testes, thus reaping all the benefits.

How is HCG Administered?

HCG is administered through subcutaneous injection. It is delivered using a much smaller needle than testosterone, through the skin into the fat layer just beneath the skin. Even if you use testosterone patches or creams, you’ll still have to deliver HCG via injection.

Don’t worry at the thought of taking several injections daily; HCG injections are virtually painless and are easier to deliver than a testosterone shot.

HCG also encourages effective weight loss.

Testosterone Side-Effects and Precautions

  • Increased Red Blood Cell Count.

Blood donation is recommended when using all forms of testosterone restoration.

  • Sleep Apnea.

Creams, gels and injections can provoke existing sleep apnea symptoms. The risk is higher for   patients that are overweight or obese.

  • Suppression of Fertility and Sperm Count.

This may be the result of a suppression of LH secretion by the pituitary. Reduced fertility is temporary, and fertility is restored over time as the body slowly regains its ability to produce its own testosterone.

  • Irritation, redness, rashes.
  • Fluid Retention.

Sometimes, a build-up of fluid in the legs and feet may occur. This usually decreases as the body becomes acclimated to therapy. Fluid retention occurs more often in older patients.

  • Increased Prostate Size.

Testosterone can increase the size of the prostate, which can lead to a condition known as Benign Prostate Hyperplasia. Men with enlarged prostates should talk to their doctor before initiating therapy.

Abuse of testosterone may result in:

  • Increased anger and aggression.
  • Heart attacks and strokes.
  • Liver damage.
  • Development of masculine characteristics in women. Though women can benefit from testosterone for the menopause or for their sex drive, they are very sensitive to it and need far less than men. Some women use testosterone for bodybuilding purposes, which is both illegal and dangerous. Symptoms of female testosterone abuse include:
  • Shrinking breasts.
  • Enlargement of the clitoris.
  • Changes in the voice (mainly deeper).
  • Male body hair patterns.
  • “Masculinization” of the fetus during pregnancy.Menstrual cycle abnormalities.
