If you look at the photo of the label, you can see that you need to take 2 pills to hit 500 mg. I’m ok with this, but it does mean that this is only a 250 day supply for me. Due to the zinc, I have to take these after eating. Zinc is known to cause upset stomach/nausea and should always accompany food to minimize this risk. I find that if I’ve eaten a normal sized meal, then I don’t have any stomach upset.
According to my best friend, who is a registered dietitian working with patients daily, you can’t absorb more than 500mg of calcium at a time. So if you want to take 1000mg per day, you’ll need to space out your intake either 500mg in the morning and 500 in the evening or evenly throughout the day. Also, if you take an iron supplement or a multi-vitamin with iron in it, then you need to separate the ingestion of the calcium from the iron by 2.5-3 hours as taking them together greatly hinders their absorption.

I have been buying this product for years from Amazon. I need to have it because I have Osteopenia. Before that I had Osteoporosis (a thinning of the bones). I take 2 tabs in the AM and 2 tabs at night which gives 1260 mg total.
It is Calcium Citrate which is much, much better than Calcium Carbonate. It has Vitamin D3 which makes it better absorb into your system.
