“Great source of protein! I mix this with 6 oz of almond milk, a scoop of almond butter, and ice all in a blender. Tastes great!”

Testimonial

“I’ve used this for 6 months now and lost 10 pounds of fat and gained 15 pounds of lean mass. I drink a shake for breakfast and it tastes so good I drink one for desert! No matter what level you’re at you can’t go wrong with this product.”

Testimonial

“I’ve been an athlete for years. I’ve bought several different protein types but this one is by far the BEST tasting protein I have found. I personally think the best mix is with cold milk, but water tastes just fine also. It’s a very thick blend, if you don’t have a blender or a bottle with a metal ball it can turn out to have lumps. You will feel full after consuming the shake.

You do feel the result the next morning, your LESS sore! I ran an experiment where I compared this protein with gnc amp and when it came to PRICE, EFFICACY, TASTE, Phase 8 won each time. If you’re serious about getting results an overnight protein is a must! Think about this: your muscles do the MOST growing when your asleep. You get no protein intake when you’re sleeping.

Why focus so much on post-work proteins when you can get more bang for your buck if you invested into a SLOW ABSORPTION overnight protein like Phase 8? I’m not affiliated with MuscleTech in anyway; I’m simply giving you my honest opinion. And if you’re still on the fence I suggest you buy the 2lb bottle first. It’s pretty cheap (25$ at Walmart). If there’s only one protein you can buy, I highly recommend this product.”

Testimonial

A perfect protein to incorporate into smoothies and recipes. I’ve used it to make protein pancakes and doughnuts!

Testimonial

The cookies one is a bit granular, and taste is ok. It just has a bit too many ingredients for me, i.e., too much “filler.” The chocolate is amongst the best tasting chocolate proteins I’ve had, however, it’s soooo “dusty” (plumes of protein dust when trying to scoop and transfer it). I’ll order the chocolate when it’s on sale, but I’m going to try to find another easier to work with mixed protein for post-lifts.

FAQ's

How do I take Phase 8 protein?

Mix one scoop of the powder with 8oz of water or milk in a shaker cup. For maximum effects mix two scoops with 16oz of water or milk. You should also drink around 8-10 glasses of water everyday and consume 4 scoops. If you do this for a minimum of six weeks, you should see very noticeable results.

When should I take Phase 8 protein?

It is recommended that the best time to drink the shake is between big meals or post workout. However, this protein mixture is effective at almost any time because of it’s diverse absorption rates. For example, multi-phase protein provides quick release of amino acids essential for post workout, the medium release protein phase for between meals, and the slow-digesting protein phase can be used overnight.

Why is Phase 8’s protein mixture so effective?

Phase 8 contains 26g of protein each serving and it is all sourced from high quality milk-derived proteins. Also, containing 8g of carbs and 1.5g of fat, Phase 8’s mixture is one of the most unique on the market. Ingredient Explanations

Micellar Casein

Casein is a protein found in milk. Its release of amino acids into the body takes longer than that of whey, as it’s often referred to as the “slow-acting” protein. Casein is high in glutamine – an amino acid that helps post-workout recovery.

Before sleeping, consumption of casein and whey – typical of protein supplementation – benefits muscle mass and boosting strength. A study concluded that pre-bedtime protein supplementation does precisely that in young men during resistance training. [1]

Whey proteins (concentrates and isolates)

Concentrates and isolates both bring their respective benefits to the table, but by definition they differ. Whey concentrates occur when milk is filtered, and the whey protein is dried. It contains a small amount of fat and carbohydrates. Concentrates can have between 30-80% protein purity.

Whey isolates are filtered even more, and its protein purity is higher (usually around the 90% mark). It is by the body absorbed quicker than concentrates.

Whichever the form whey protein takes, a protein powder containing both concentrates and isolates is valuable. In a study of 18-50 year old healthy adults, the more resistance training was undertook (duration, frequency etc), the more protein supplementation increased muscle gains. [S.M Pasiakos, T.M McLellan, H.R Lieberman, The effects of protein supplements on muscle mass, strength, and aerobic and anaerobic power in healthy adults: a systematic review. Sports Med, Jan 2015].

Calcium caseinate

A type of protein derived from the casein found in milk. It is often included in protein powders because it breaks down more slowly than other proteins.

Malodextrin

Malodextrin is an easily-digestible long-chain sugar. It is also not too sweet. Malodextrin is often used by athletes because it provides a solid amount of energy when needed. There may be another reason why malodextrin is used in sports products: to help reduce the risk of gastrointestinal distress. Malodextrin has been believed to contribute to a lot of health benefits.

Calcium carbonate

A common ingredient, mainly used to counteract acidity levels in the stomach, thus helping to combat indigestion. Calcium carbonate has many different benefits and is used to remedy many different health issues.

Our Verdict

Pretty highly rated. Though not perfect (it’s not the smoothest product out there), Phase 8 is still one of the most effective whey protein products you can get your mitts on. Favourable reviews, and a whopping 26g of protein per serving. Still unsure on why you should be using whey protein? Click on the link to read our guide.
