Testimonial

“The big difference between Pre Jym and any other pre-workouts is how well formulated it is. Most pre- workouts have very catchy titles, loads of caffeine, and are the typical product that make a non-fitness person believe pre- workouts are terrible for you, cause heart issues, etc.

Dr. Stoppani’s product is formulated with nutrients that are necessary and critical for lifting. Sure, there’s caffeine to spike your energy just like any other pre-workout, but every other ingredient such as Betaine, Beta-Alanine, BCAAs, L-Carnitine, etc. have the exact doses needed.

I have searched for a pre-workout that comes close to Pre Jym just to see if anyone is catching up to him, but I have found none. Every other pre-workout is under-dosed, proprietary, and easy to tell that the person who made it was just trying to make money. Pre Jym is highly recommended, as are all of their products. Have used only their products for 13 months now and will never take anything else.”

Testimonial

“I have used all of the Jym products for over a year now. In the course of the year my weight has increased 10 lbs, that’s 10 lbs of muscle. Dr. Stoppani is very forward on why his products are different than others. He is upfront on what is in his products and why they are beneficial. In my opinion, you can’t beat the Refreshing Melon flavour of Pre Jym and a combo of Lemonade Matrix/Rainbow Sherbert Carbs. My workouts last longer and the weight I can push has increased. Also, it says a lot that Dr. Stoppani takes time to answer questions; you don’t see that from competitors. I’d also recommend the Alpha product as well.”

Testimonial

“There are several reasons this is the best pre-workout you can buy. 1) Look at the ingredients. Pre Jym is stacked with important ingredients to fuel your workouts and with proper dosing.

No other pre-workout even comes close to the same doses. Each ingredient is listed with its dosing so you know how much of each your getting unlike other pre-workouts that list ingredients as “proprietary blends” and won’t tell you the dosing of each ingredient. 2) The ingredients are safe to consume and backed by scientific research.

There’s no crazy spelled name on the back that you haven’t heard of before or can’t easy find on Google. 3) Education. Jim (creator of Pre Jym) lists why each ingredient is critical and why he chose the amount of each ingredient to put in. The pre-workout won’t leave you feeling cracked out and accelerate your heart rate to the point of you can’t function during your workout like other pre-workouts do. 4) Tastes. I love his flavours, especially the black cherry. Pro tip: mix a scoop of his vanilla bean Pro Jym with a scoop of any flavour of pre-workout and it tastes amazing.”

FAQ's

How to make the Pre Jym shake?

First of all you should shake your container of pre jym so that all ingredients are still in their intended proportions. This is because some ingredients can fall to the bottom. Then you should mix one scoop with around 14 oz of water. However, some recommend more to ensure that the creatine and other ingredients dissolve in properly. This is because, if you have to take the last gulp that is nearly all creatine, you can disrupt your digestive system. Furthermore, once you have mixed the shake vigorously with mild water you should leave it standing for around 10-15 minutes, going back to shake it some more every 5 minutes. As a result, you should now have a shake that you can slowly sip on and gain the full benefits of the mixture.

When should I take a Pre Jym shake?

You are best to take the Pre Jym shake around 20-45 minutes before your workout. You can then sip slowly and let it enter your system gradually. It is important not to down your Pre Jym in one. You might want to give it a shake between each sip for good measure.

Are there any side effects of Pre Jym?

It is possible that you will feel a mild tingling in your skin however this is completely normal and safe. It is called paresthesia and it is caused by the beta-alanine in the mixture. Making a stronger shake can result in a worsened tingling, so we would recommend sticking to one scoop.

Ingredient Explanations

Citrulline malate

Citrulline malate is a non-essential amino acid, which means it is made in the body and thus we don’t usually need to obtain it by our diet. It has been reported that citrulline malate affects subjective feelings. The Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition stated that, “oral L-citrulline supplementation enhances cycling time trial performance. Moreover, L-citrulline improves subjective feelings (e.g. of muscle soreness) after performance. These results suggest that L-citrulline is a promising amino acid for enhancing sport performance.” Citrulline also improves blood flow, and so is useful for men with mild erectile dysfunction.

L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine, L-Valine (BCAAs)

Very common in supplements, branched chain amino acids are frequently beneficial when combined with other ingredients. In an article titled The effects of a pre-workout supplement containing caffeine, creatine, and amino acids during three weeks of high-intensity exercise on aerobic and anaerobic performance, the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition concluded that, “Although there was not a single ingredient in [said supplement] that could solely account for the improvements, it is likely that the combination of relatively low doses of several ingredients (caffeine, creatine, BCAAs, whey protein, and cordyceps) may be responsible for the increases in aerobic performance, training volume, and the maintenance of lean mass.”

Creatine Hydrochloride

Though more often seen in bulking supplements and mass gainers, creatine can be beneficial in pre-workouts. The International Society of Sports Nutrition labelled creatine “the most effective ergogenic nutritional supplement currently available to athletes in terms of increasing high-intensity exercise and lean body mass.”

CarnoSyn® Beta-Alanine

According to their website, CarnoSyn® Beta-Alanine is the only beta-alanine imported and sold in the U.S. that is licensed by Natural Alternatives International, Inc. (NAI). it works by increasing muscle carnosine through beta-alanine supplementation. CarnoSyn® supplementation led to a muscle carnosine increase of 80% after 10 weeks of supplementation. [1]

Betaine

Betaine is a natural chemical that may improve athletic performance and strength.

L-Tyrosine

The amino acid (and versions of it) have been shown to reduce the decline in cognitive function in response to physical stressors. Furthermore, Tyrosine has also been shown to help increase energy levels during periods of fatigue due to sustained work and sleep deprivation.

Taurine

Now a well-known ingredient in performance drinks and supplements. Taurine is an organic acid that is found in the heart, red blood cells and the brain. Also, taurine can boost attention levels, and it seems to lower blood pressure – perfect for that pre-workout routine.

N-Acetyl L-Cysteine

A form of the amino acid L-Cysteine, this has many uses. Perhaps the most important in pre-workout supplements is the reduction of levels of a blood fat called lipoprotein in people with high levels of this blood fat.

Beta vulgaris (beet extract)

The humble beetroot. In the human studies to date, beetroot supplementation has been reported to: reduce blood pressure, attenuate inflammation, avert oxidative stress, preserve endothelial function and restore cerebrovascular haemodynamics. Furthermore, although beyond the scope of this review, several studies have now established beetroot supplementation as an effective means of enhancing athletic performance.

BioPerine®

A patented product sourced from piperine, which is found in black pepper. Common in pre-workouts, black pepper is well-known for its fat-burning qualities. Additionally, BioPerine® is, according to the manufacturers, the only product sourced out of piperine to obtain a patented status for its ability to increase the bioavailability of nutritional compounds.

Choline Bitartrate

Choline is a vitamin-like essential nutrients, made in humans in the liver. It is similar to B vitamins. Choline is used for its cognitive-boosting properties, which display more benefits in a pre-workout supplement than those to specific athletic performance. Therefore, it seems to gear the brain and body to focus on the workout itself, rather than boost body performance during the actual workout.

Caffeine anhydrous

Everyone knows about caffeine. After all, it’s the world’s most commonly used stimulant. Study results suggest that acute ingestion of a caffeine-containing energy drink can enhance resistance exercise performance to failure and positively enhance psychophysiological factors related to exertion in trained men. For example, a 2012 study in the Journal of Strength Conditioning and Resistance found that men who took caffeine supplements could deadlift, bench-press and do other heavy lifting at greater weights compared with men who took a placebo.

Alpha-Glyceryl Phosphoryl Choline (Alpha GPC)

A phospholipid compound of choline (see above), Alpha GPC found in the brain. Well controlled clinical trials are reporting that glycerophosphocholine improves attention, cognitive function, mood and behaviour. Additionally, it aids in recovery from brain trauma, can be used to boost growth hormone, and can partially revitalise an ageing brain [2].

Our Verdict

An exceptional product. Thoroughly researched ingredients and cracking reviews. There are four flavours, and is one of the best pre-workouts on the market. Furthermore, a note on allergies: it contains soya, and is made in a facility that also processes eggs, peanuts, milk and wheat. Although relatively expensive, it’s still pretty good value for money.
